Saturday morning and I was up with the lark, by London standards.
I was dressed and out by 9:30am and waiting outside Heals on Tottenham Court Road as they opened.
I had a cunning plan, how to avoid Oxford Street and accomplish my Christmas shopping without encountering a single crowd.
From Tottenham Court Road I walked along a sleepy Goodge Street, bought a couple of things and then into the back door of John Lewis (crowd avoided).
From there it was an easy walk to Marylebone High Street where old, civilized shoppers prevailed (hello like-minded people) and then, mission accomplished, home on the bus in time for lunch.
No crowds, no pedestrian rage (mine) and Christmas shopping done!
